Today I learned that Balloons are a bit spooky. They float like a head but no body. It kind of creeped me out, but when i came back after my walk with my dad, someone popped it and I liked it so much better!

Today was a beautiful day in new york and we walked from chelsea to the west village to soho. And while I walked I learned its ok to not always be modest especially when a group of 5 female japanese tourists stopped me and asked my dad if they could take pictures of me.

It was kind of fun.

Ialso learned that a 4 mile run then all this walking is exhausting even for me.

So we were walking by the Catherine Malandrino store in the West Village/Meat Packing, where my mom keeps dragging dad, when all of a sudden out of no where this woman with legs for miles and red and black hair wearing a tiny little dress and a long coat glided up to the store. The reason I knew it was that my dad stopped and refused to move (just like the way I do when I either want to go somewhere or want to go see another dog and my parents want to go the other-way), and starred. He even got a little glassy eyed. Minutes later when he came back he too, he told my mom it was Joss Stone.

She didn't say hi, or even smile. Not like Lucy Liu, or Sienna Miller, or any other pretty stars I have met.

But I learned that there are some thing that will stop dads from moving.

I learned that, to quote Waynes World: "if you blow chunks and she comes back she's yours, if you blow chunks and she leaves it wasn't meant to be." My mom came back. She's the best!

Catching Snowflakes

Tonight was my first snowfall (that I can remember). It was beautiful, and what made it more fun was my entire walk was a game. Anywhere there was significant light shining and reflecting off the snowflakes I tried to catch them. I learned that no matter how real they look to my eyes they don't exist to my mouth.

As you can imagine, I love waking up really really early. So I wake up and since after about two minutes I get bored, I walk from my mom's side of the bed to my dad's side of the bed hoping that one of them will slightly move. If they even breath a bit more deeply the I lick them til they wake up and allow me to cuddle with them til morning! Its really great! This weekend I even learned that if I keep cuddling I can stay in bed til late!

So this morning I realized that if I run as fast as I can, I can jump on the bed and make it slide. Then I jump off the bed, run away, run back, jump on the bed, slide. Then I can do the same thing but jump up on my mom while she is getting ready, and then back on the bed. Its so much fun and I can totally wreck the entire bedroom!

I learned that since I can't eat my parents stuff (so far) I will eat all of my toys. I get a stuffed animal, and as soon as I can, the eyes are gone. I like to think of it like I am a celebrity "don't look at me!" Then I eat the insides out and then I carry around the empty flacid body around the house getting slobbier and slobbier. Its really fun.

So I am gradually working my way into my parents room, and last night I was sleeping there on the floor. I had a horrible nightmare. This weekend my parents went away to the cape, where my dad proposed to my mom! I guess sooner than later I will have official legal parents, and will no longer be a bastard puppy. Today a beautiful monarch butterfly was fluttering by my face, so I caught it. I then realized that with it in my mouth I couldn't admire its beauty. So I let it go. It flew away. I learned that you have to be gentle with beautiful things, if you try to control them you might crush them and not be able to enjoy what they bring to the world.

I also drove in a convertable. I learned that convertables are fun, for a while, then they are just windy.

So last night I came to a total realization. . . if I want to spend more time with my parents when they are going to bed, and if I want to play with them while they are trying to sleep, there is one thing I have to do. Everytime they say "ok Norman, time to go to bed" or "Goodnight Norman" if I stop everything, act real cute and pretend to get comfortable to go to bed they will forget that I am being wild and let me stay on the bed and cuddle.

Yesterday my dad and I were walking around New York City, we (either he, or I, or Us together, with my mom) have been traveling a lot, so its nice to get a day in the summer in New York City. Anyway, we were walking around town, and nice couple came up to us and said that there was a big event happening on 18th St and they were offering free grooming and some famous celebrity photographer (isn't everyone in New York) was taking dog headshots.

Well we walked over and low and behold it was Pet Fashion Week. Yes there is an entire week dedicated to pet's fashion, surprised we didn't see Tinkerbell and her owner Paris. . . Anyway, as we were walking (both a bit warm i might add) we were stopped by people at Sexy Beast! They invited us into their trailer, and then they took me in back and dry groomed me! They covered me in powders and even some perfume! They then offered to send us over to some photo studio where we (grabbed mom first) ended up getting beautiful photos taken. I can't wait to see how they look. I will post the name of the photographer and the photos when I get them.

It was a great day, but I have to say this whole cater to your pets trend is getting a little overboard.

I learned that sometimes when its just me and my dad its more fun to have a journey than a destination.

So while my dad was out of town my mom tried having me sleep in the room. When she turned the lights out, I would quietly sneakily, get up and snoop around...I would find my ball, and as soon as I did, its PLAYTIME! But I knew that if my mom woke up she would take me out of the room so as soon as she turned the lamp on I would act all innocent and laydown pretending I was sleeping. Then if she came over to me to try to take me out of the room, I would be real cudly, because everyone loves a good cuddle especially since I would pretend to be asleep for hours. . . And then she would turn off the light, and it was PLAYTIME AGAIN!!!!!

So I learned that if you want to stay in your parents room, you have to pretend to be asleep when they are awake and you can play all you want when they fall asleep!

Celebrities in New York

I have learned that all of the celebrities I meet in NYC are just like everyone else. The only difference is that people they have never met know who they are. Yesterday morning I met Jesse Martin from Law and Order. A while back I met Lucy Liu (who was hot), and Jimmy Fallon. And I also met that guy from the first real world, among others. But lets face it, celebrities, people, everyone, they all have the same needs, to pet me. That's all.

Yes, mom is still gone and its just been me and Dad. We have made a big mess of the apartment and we even got into a little tussel with an old dog in the elevator. I learned that if you are not nice to other dogs you shouldn't be let out in public, or live in an apartment building. Needless to say this dog in my building wasn't very nice and he attacked me. It personally scared the %&@*#t out of me, but my dad made it ok, and then he yelled at the owner. Dad's are great for sticking up for you.

So this morning my mom went home to Michigan by her self, and today I am learning the begining of GUYS' TIME!!!! Dad and I already hung out this morning, we went for a little walk, then we came home and while he was getting ready for work I ate the bottom of the box spring. Tonight I am thinking we might lounge around on the couch, spill food everywhere, maybe even go to the dog park and check out the Bitches! Spending time with dad is so much fun!

Mice and Listening to Dad

Last night we had dinner at a fine little tiny restaurant in the West Village called Tanti Baci Caffe. My parents say it is one of those places where you see it all the time and always think 'let's go there' but forget about it. Well we went. Its about the size of a shoe box and it has an outdoor patio. The food I heard is great, simple fresh pastas. Anyway I am not here to give restaurant reviews since I don't eat people food, but I am here to tell you about my experience, and last night I learned about MICE!

See sitting outside, I noticed these little fuzzy things running along the edges of the street. I was teathered to my table, and everytime one went, I would jump up, yank everything off the table crashing to the ground trying to catch one of these little things. I couldn't do it. So eventually after dinner, and as the area cleared out, my dad pulled me aside and said let me give you some father puppy pointers.

He said: "The key here is to block the mice from returning to their den, so you have to cut in towards then den driving them out to the open area where you can catch them."

I heard: "pant, pant, pant, blah blah blah blah"

So needless to say, I spent a lot of time trying to find them as they shot back into their holes, and I didn't catch any of the mice. Last night I learned that even with little fuzzy mice you should always listen to your dad.
