Disappointment

For the past 8 weeks my dad has been talking about the event of Tuesday evening. He was so excited, he couldn't wait. His dreams of time spent with me would finally be fulfilled on Tuesday evening. Tuesday evening was the day I received my final of 3 series of vaccinations so I could finally go out and play in the park.

My dad was excited as we headed towards the vet. We met my mom midway and it was all my dad could talk about. "After this we go straight to the dog park!" My mom couldn't believe how excited he was. I was excited, a park, if my dad was excited it had to be fun (and hopefully tasty) I couldn't wait!

When we got to the vet I could feel the anticipation, it was pure excitement. We walked into the examination room, I ate like 50 treats. And then the doctor gave me my shot! My dad jumped for joy, and said 'can we take him to the park'. And then the dreaded words 'We like to wait a week for it to kick in' the vet could have told him that he was adopted, anything but that! His face dropped, my mom put her hand on his knee, and said 'its going to be ok'

I didn't know what to do. The moment was devasting. So I did all I could do, I walked up to him, put both paws on his knees and gave him the "its ok Dad, I'll wait!" look, and wagged my tail.

He smiled, and it was like all the cares went away. Today I learned that to make everything ok is that all you need to do is get real close wag your tail and smile.
